Amazing Uncharted 4 fan film perfectly captures the spirit of the games

first_imgThe Uncharted series has always been highly cinematic so it’s fitting that fans would come up with their own Uncharted-inspired short film. The folks over on the Freakin Rad YouTube channel have released a new video that is as close to the Uncharted experience as you can get outside of the video games. The video features series protagonist Nathan Drake as he mounts a rescue of his long-time partner, Elena Fisher. The video is shot with the same camera angles as the games, and as such, the entire thing is filmed in one continuous take.Little things like the game’s HUD and the smoke trails left behind by gunshots give it that appropriate Uncharted feel. There is also a good amount of witty back and forth between the characters because it wouldn’t be Uncharted without witty banter. While it’s easy to see that the creators of the video are genuine fans of Uncharted, they didn’t get everything 100% right. For example, we don’t see Nathan Drake’s back whenever he fires a shot, and some of the angles wouldn’t exactly allow the player to see where to aim their gun. The final bit with the jeep chase should have had the camera angle be in front of Elena and Nathan’s getaway vehicle instead of behind it. Just some nitpicking on my part, but nothing that takes away from the overall awesomeness of the video. In other Uncharted 4 news, Sony announced that the game has sold 2.7 million copies during its first week.last_img
