Channel: “Neither Osasuna nor another club in the League is considering the ERTE”

The Osasuna Athletic Club does not plan to carry out a Temporary Employment Regulation File (ERTE) with its staff, according to its general director, Fran Canal, who also assured that “no team” in the professional league is weighing it as a measure to alleviate the economic effects of the Covid-19. In statements to Efe, Canal commented that, if this regulation is carried out, all professional clubs must make a “global employer-union agreement” to take the decision to decree “an exceptional measure.” “Probably, in case of not finishing the season, an agreement would have to be reached together with all the clubs,” said the Rojillo director about the remote possibility of making the temporary decision in case the season ended with 28 days played. For Canal, the fault that the players have to train at home is not from the athletes or the institution they represent, but rather “an exceptional circumstance that crosses the country”, for which they think that they should continue paying the wages since “the player is going to fulfill all the matches because you pay him per year, not for months.” “Not all legislation is the same,” Canal explained about the ERTE examples carried out in teams such as Olympique de Lyon and Montpellier de la Ligue 1., implying that this measure would not be beneficial for either party. What really worries the rojillo president is the economic activity of Osasuna, since the club “does not work” because stores and offices cannot open due to an “obvious” risk of contagion.
