CALEXICO – Several light aftershocks shook an area south of the U.S.-Mexico border region early Saturday. The quakes were centered south of the border, about 34 miles southeast of Calexico, the U.S. Geological Survey said. A magnitude-3.1 temblor hit at 2:31 a.m. and was followed about an hour later by a magnitude-4.2 quake. Four other quakes between a magnitude of 2.6 and 2.7 struck in the same area during a 24-hour period.
